CGX Quick-32r EEG Headset

CGX is the world leader in dry EEG technology. The company designs, manufactures, and sells EEG headsets and biophysiological monitors to research, academic, and clinical facilities worldwide.

With the Quick-32r, our task was to build CGX a new headset from the ground up. Working closely with the client team and our engineering partner, we designed a platform that could accommodate 12 more sensor channels than the previous 20-channel headset, the Quick-20. Our design improved comfort and weight distribution. We also solved for a quicker and easier setup, with user-friendly visual feedback for signal quality.

From design to production, additive manufacturing is key to the Quick-32r’s success. Nearly every mechanical component is 3D printed in Nylon using HP Multi Jet Fusion. This gave us several key opportunities to enhance the design. We could combine multiple components into single parts which would not be achievable in traditional injection molding. This reduced the part count by over 100 pieces, simplifying assembly and reducing the need for fasteners and secondary operations. We worked hand-in-hand with our additive manufacturing partner to make sure the design achieved production grade material properties and biocompatibility.

The CGX Systems Quick-32r is a leap forward in Dry EEG technology, whose design and manufacturing represent the cutting edge technology of using additive manufacturing systems to seamlessly move from prototypes through to volume production.
